Realizing I'm neither friend nor family, I thought I'd pass along a good book recommendation. I started listening to jazz about a year ago and decided I wanted to learn more about it. I found "Lady Sings the Blues" (by Billie Holiday) at Wal-Mart for $13 and I checked from the library "Ella Fitzgerald" by Stuart Nicholson - I found them to each be an interesting look into the lives of many musicians, not just Ella and Billie. My last jazz acquisition was a CD made by Doc Cheatham and Nicholson Payton in 1997. Hard to believe Doc was 91 when he recorded same. You have to listen to it to understand what I mean.
I am 33. I live in suburban Portland, Oregon, and I wanted to create a way for my friends and family to read my gripes and see pictures of what is going on in my life.
